:( HELP
hi any help would be great :)
ive got a early 72 crossover i had a gearbox problem ie jumping out of first really violently on moving off :(
i got myself a second hand ca code box to replace the ck code box in the bus
i swaped over the bell housing as it needed the the later ears on top, put new nose cone seal on and refitted the box onto the 1600 engine
put a new coupler on in front off the box and it all looked fine and dandy :)
started up the van and couldnt select many gears only 2,4 and r but it was a grid to select any
the cluch is continously on (engaged i think)you cant change gear
i adjusted the clutch all the up and then all the way back but it made no difference although the clutch peddle has resistance and you could noticably tell the cable had been adjusted
i got some one to press the peddle whilst i was under the van and the arm on the side of the box moves 2inches so i think this is ok
also there is a 1 1/2 inch bow in the bowden (tube) that the cable goes through(i think thats what its called) as should be
is there any one with any ideas as puzzling me as it was really only the gear section of the doner box used all the other parts where on the bus already and where working with no issues
also i removed the gear stick and with the engine off i could select all gears using a large screwdriver so i dont think its the doner box its just the clutch is continously on :(
PLEASE HELP as stumped now
kind regards erica

If you are sure the arm is moving correctly eg. its not the cable stretching or the cable conduit failing, then it sounds like either the release bearing has come off the fork or the fork arm may have failed.

thanks for your reply
its all sorted now after much messing around engine in/out 3 times
input shaft had a very little burr on it and wasnt moving freely
wire brushed and cleaned and all sorted
again thanks for the reply and happy bugging :D
