We need to get a new daily/family & parts hauler as we had a rather worrying near miss earlier in the week in the Volvo 850 that is the current daily.

My choices so far for the money I want to spend are:

renault-megane.JPG

which is the sensible part of my brain working......

Or one of these (with a leaning towards orange)

Can you guys reassure me that my orange tinted glasses are helping me to make the right decision

Go for the crew cab and make the sensible choice. You will regret havin a Renault its French

How will you get all of those bits home that you collect from strange people parked in fields :D of vw's

Excellent point, in fact if I get the bay crewcab I could fit the narrowed beam that I still havent made with your generous donation

Seen a subaru engined t25 crew cab for sale as well, bit more oomph & still practical hmmm

Has to be the crewcab - Renault Megane, you having a laugh

Not the renault fella, have you seen the ballache just to change a headlamp bulb on one of them....renault charge about 200 notes for the pleasure, so what other delights are lurking...plus its got a fat arse and has no redeeming features what so ever....

a nice syncro crewies what you want

Guy at work mentioned the bulb fiasco on renaults, I have had a sneaky peek at the syncros and they do look nice

My missus has a modern french car, seems they all suffer from electrical faults(inc hers). Go for the crewie(the bay imo), anything else just aint right

I sell new Renaults! Don't buy the Megane! I abandon my company renault at every opurtunity to drive my van! You'll hate the renault, all plasticy and depreciationable!

I have a 'newish/modern' car and to get part or a fault light diagnosed cost a bomb! I could have replaced an engine, got a load of NOS goodies etc for the bay with the money I spent on an ABS unit. give me something simple anyday - if an old VW breaks - take it apart - fix it and replace - easy.

How about the mid Chevy V8 engined t25 crewie thats been doing the shows this year? Thor whatever his name is is selling his beast, also painted in orange!!

Stay away from the Megane, ive had several Renault dailys including 2 meganes, a Scenic and a Clio 172 cup, i was a glutton for punishment! :( .....never ever again.

My biggest bane was the bloody alarm/immobiliser, it work too well! had to walk 4 miles in snow in my shirt sleeves once, as the car would start! i had a 'Basil Faulty' moment but with snow balls  . I think it took me 3 days to thaw out!

I am going to look at this at vanfest on Friday - 2.2 Subaru engine:

I think there's an old thread about this crewie on VZI which contains this video:
