Hi All.

Thanks for reading this, I appreciate it :)

So today I changed my fuel lines over to some new biofuel lines from Aircooled Works. My bus turned over fine prior to doing the change. All connections are tight, jubilee clips fully tightened and no leaks. On changing one of the lines there was a small amount of fuel spilt onto the components below the fuel pump when extracting the rear fuel pump hose.

When I go to start her up there is one click and then nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chris.

Don't know to be honest as was on my own when I tried to start her up...could hear it coming from the engine bay but thats about it.

As has been said already, check the connections to the battery & starter. Also make sure the battery is fully charged.

One thing I would recommend you give serious consideration to is moving the fuel filter from its current position. You have it placed after the pump so it is under pressure all the time, additionally if it was to leak, split or fail (not unheard of) the fuel will spill onto the coil & distributor, both very good sources of ignition for the fuel, not to mention spilling onto a hot engine.

The better way to do it is to place it underneath the vehicle out of the engine bay, usually about 6" away from where the pipe exits the tank above the gearbox, any spilled fuel then just falls to the ground away from any spark or hot engine, this is also not a pressured line (except for the weight of the fuel in the tank).

There are lots of vans that have the filter where yours is positioned, but it really is not worth the risk.

^^ what G has said ^^

Also have you used jubilee clips or hose clips, there is a difference, really you need to use hose clips as these pull up evenly and also dont cut into the hose

Did you change the lines back to the tank ?

If the engine only clicks than the starter doesn't go round. That has nothing to do with fuel or fuel lines.

I changed my fuel pump and some of the lines a few weeks ago and it wouldn't start up either. Turned out I still had the clamp on the line coming from the tank.

I used hose clips as supplied by aircooled works as supplied in the biohose kit. the fuel line back to the tank was changed and included a new kunifer hardline.

Just gotten home now so going to try somr of these suggestions! Cheers for your input :)

No clamps left in place on mine :/

Maybe it's my eyes but I don't count enough wires going to or from the dizzy...
If the engine doesn't even turn over then your starter motor isn't doing its thing. Give it a wee tap with a hammer.
Lastly, do you have a hot-start relay fitted anywhere?

Just checked all connections on solenoid/starter, battery, dizzy and hey presto she started up first time! Must have knocked something I guess. Thanks for providing the info guys, much appreciated and will make sure I get the filter moved Mr Brightside (thanks for the tip)...I just went off a pic on the camper and bus website in an article on engine basics and as the filter was in that position when I took ownership of the bus I just presumed thats where it should go. Cheers again, Chris.
