Hi, not sure if anyone can help but me and Lisa drove across to the Isle of White last night and the weather
Was awful.

This resulted in me hitting a patch of water and a Pothole at around 60mph!!

Anyway it has caused the van to pull heavily to the right (the side I didn't hit) when I brake.

I just needed to know if anybody knew of a garage in the island that repaired aircooled VW`s?

Many thanks

Matt.

If you can get it up on a ramp/lift you can check to what if anything's noticeably bent
(check for recent cracked, rippled paint) on the steering mechanism (drag link etc..).
You may have to remove the pedal cover belly pan if you have one.

If you sweet talk a tyre depot they may let you up on one of theirs.

I guess it could have damaged suspension or brakes but that is less likely I think.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Regards

James

PS go back and take a photo of the pot-hole for your insurance claim to I-O-W council if you can !

Are you on drum brakes at the front? If so it could of just filled with water. And if it's now dry it should drain out and clean itself after braking.Worth a try first.

I am on drum brakes and would guess that you are probably right with the water as thee was lots of it!

Just scared me a bit lol

Thanks for your replies!

Thats unlucky mate, though not surprising, me and the family went there a few weeks ago and I think they must have the worst condition roads in the UK :( Have they ever re-surfaced them?? Wont be going back, shame really as the beaches are quite nice.

WOW,
Are the roads really that bad?
I`m off camping there in two weeks time
Should i be raising my suspension back to stock! :msn4:

Only joking.
But should i take a shovel and some Tarmac!
Cheers Paul.
