Does anyone know if I need to remove the steering column to change a steering Bush? If I grab the steering wheel I can move it and down(mot advisory).

I didnt, but mine was totally knackered.

I just removed my steering wheel, then the bush lifted out & i pressed the new one in.

You should be ok,it will probably be very worn! a magnet on a screwdriver,or the cheap magnetic pick up pens may help.

I had a brass bush in mine, not original and i ended up drilling 2 holes in either side of the outer tube and using a punch to remove it.

The original bearings are no longer available so you will need a brass bush from one of the suppliers, bluebird customs or heritage do them.
