I mean memberships generated by computer, not real people!!!

I don't think you need to own a bus to be a member, just have an interest in early bays!!!

;)

im a computer, I was built a few years ago, im very advanced as i drive and early :D theres other models before me but the have no taste :D

Its a good question - but firstly we're here for Fans of EarlyBay's so theres certainly no requirement to own one...

I am due to do a good clear-out of all the spam registrations - and there are a lot - I will def. do this soon as I';d lke to know the real figure too ! (we're certainly not near to 1000 just yet I think ...)

Just took a look at the memberlist...

Isn't there any way of blocking these computer generated spammers?
I'm on another php forum, and we just dont have this problem, and on the odd occasion one gets through, one of the mods chucks them out within minutes, I guess as there is only one mod here that may not be practical.

you cant block it with this version of phpBB unfortunately. You have to manually allow registrations and manually delete the pending spammers

Shame, that makes it a hard job for the admin......... :(

is it posibal to put something up that says people have to make at least 1 post within a week (even if its to say hi) and then you could delete all the new members that havent posted?just an idea

I'm an admin on a PHPBB board, we did something similar, posted a sticky warning that all accounts with 1 or less posts would be deleted... makes the job alot easier!

You can also prevent spam bots from signing up, without having to manually allow members (cloggs email inbox) by using an add on called 'textual confirmation' which adds a question of your choice to the registration form.. stops the dumb spam bots from signing up.. i think it was from here http://bbantispam.com/tc/

thanks will try and check out the add-on when I have a sec ...
