+1. I've got one of these beasts:

Fills me with mucho confidence when jacking that van as it is fecking heavy and very stable compared to my old Clarke one.

They also do some good packages with axle stands.

I bought the 3 ton SGS one as well, (plus the rubber thing for the round bit (whatever its called)). not really used it it anger though.

I have a arcon low profile jack and find it to be spot on, it came from Costco as they were the cheapest at the time

My jack and axle stands cost £175 delivered - not too expensive for the quality of them!

Not used the jack in anger yet though but it is a hefty bit of kit and the stands are rated at 7ton

I'm liking the look of the sgs 3t jack, seems good value for money at £110!

+ VAT and delivery...

Forgot about the poxy vat!! Delivery is free though!!

Lol, caught me out as well. Proof is in the long term reliability though - I haven't had mine long enough to be able to comment on that, but can say that my aluminium Clarke jack (similar if not the same as the Arcan ones) failed whilst I was using it just a week outside of its year warranty.

Thus is the Arcon. It has performed without fault for engine removal and front beam installation.
They now make an aluminium version which would be excellent as due to its weight it will be easy to push round.

I'm sure I paid less than that? This is the one I bought http://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj3-garage-3-ton-trolley-jack" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it says £66 + VAT on my computer and I didn't get charged delivery?

Think its the low profile one he is referring to

Thats on at £109

Does this one have the fixed handle? I always end up losing at least one section of the removable handles!

Handle pushes in and then kept there with a knurled screw in jobbie and the handle comes in two parts joined by a bolt thingy.

the low profile one must be for lowered buses ;) Mines standard height hence the reason I went for the sixty pounds one!

You pays your money and takes your choice.

A low profile is definitely a must for lowered buses, and come in useful for lifting suspension arms etc into place whilst bolting them up. I'd just make sure you have a decent, stable set of axle stands to go with it, as at the end of the day, these are what are actually stopping your bus from toppling over whilst the work is being carried out - the jack is just to lift it safely.
