Does anyone know what size/thread the idle screw is? Mines missing and I cant find anything that fits!

Assume your talking about your 71 bay?

The idle screw is a taper point brass screw that is part of the carburettor. There is no substitute. It has to be the correct part (in exactly the same way as a jet or a needle valve).

If your talking about the screw on the throttle lever, that rests on the choke cam, its not an idle screw and should never be used as such.

Its a throttle stop screw only and when the choke is off the screw serves to stop the closed butterfly from closing too far and wedging in and damaging the throat of the carb. (I doubt this is the screw you mean since its tight in its thread and will never fall out and its very long thread makes it tedious to remove and I cant honestly think of any reason to remove it)

Oh dear - thats a new one. In your situation I would either go to a local specialist or put a wanted ad here / Vzi etc since there are many worn out useless carbs out there laying around and the throttle stop screw can be salvaged.

You can buy a 34 pict rebuild kit from Just Campers about 12 quid and the part you need is in the kit.
