I finally managed to get my hands on an old indicator switch (I've heard the after market ones OEM 211953513G aren't too good?).

However my old one has 7 wires whilst the new one has 5. One of the missing wires on the new switch is grey, whilst the other black and white. They grey one connects to connection number '6' and the other to connection number '7' (located and numbered at the back / underside of the switch).

Does anyone know what these are and if I can just blank them off? Or any other tips or advice?

Thank you!!! Jay

After more searching I've realised my replacement stalk is for 72 - April 74 Bus! I still wouldn't mind to see if I could use it but will probably end up getting the after market one (the only possible replacement I can actually find) :-(

So, your van is a 71?
Is it a thin black lever with a small black end....

Hi
I am rebuilding a 72 crossover US and the indicator stalk on the bus was too bad to repair or use, i ended up getting one NOS from France, it is a 7 wire where my bus is a 5 wire but it works fine omitting the 2 grey wires.
It was expensive but i can dig out his details if you wish, hw may have or be able to source another

Simshaz,

Did you keep the old unrepairable one. I am looking for one as a model to see if it is possible to make the small "circuit board" that the acts as the base contact, that seems to be
the bit that wears out.

My switch is is on the way out, but still works so don't want to experiment with it.

When I was an apprentice we made circuit boards by dipping copper clad boards in acid, just wondering if the same thing could work here....?

If it works it would be a cheap fix, and might save lots of OG switches...

Will look in the workshop tonight, cct stuff was ok i think, all the plastic housing in mine had turned to dust and was so brittle every time i moved the arm another chunk fell off.
Scrapped it and installed the new one
Will let you know
