Inner sill replacement on my 71 T2

Evenin one and all,
started to rip chunks out of my bay, started with the o/s sill which was full of P38...Got that off but the inner sill is badly corroded and should be replaced. It looks mighty difficult to get to and replace. I do have belly pans so one would assume that they would have to come off? If so would or should they have been welded in place or bolted or should I simply take my grinder to them?
Should I support the floor when doing these or is that not necessary...
Advise greatly recieved, or if any one has pics or links of how to do this, that would be even better..
