I can recommend NOT using Adrian Flux and Classic Line! Both agreed value at £20k over the phone, when paperwork came through they had dropped it to £17.5k with no explanation! When I called them both, response was "sorry we can't do anything about it now".
Cancelled with both of them and went with Hagerty. Was a bit dearer but they seemed to know what they were talking about and agreed the value no problem. Have just insured my '63 Nothback with them as well, really pleased with them.
+1 for avoiding Adrian Flux, they are bad in themselves but the underwriters they use “ Markerstudy” are absolutely useless, last time I looked they (underwriters ) had a 96%awful 2% good rating! Problem is Markerstudy probably quote low ( as reflected in performance) this enables AF to get more customers = more commission. Just cancelled AF arranged policy after a no fault crash ( not due to run out til October) went with Hegarty, they seem far more switched on and only slightly higher premium.

Don't know if they can help but I always got a good result from Carol Nash insurance.
When you say “ good result” do you mean a low premium or have you experienced good claim handling?
as far as I know they use “Markerstudy” as underwriters ….google their Trustpilot result ! 96% awful

I do not know who they currently use as underwriters, but I suppose if an insurance company is good or bad can only be judged on what happens if you need to make a claim and in that case then, being as I have never had to make a claim I cannot comment on that side of it, however the person was asking about getting insurance cover, and in that case they have been good at coming in at at a price that I have been happy with against what I have been quoted by other companies. So for me that was a good result. I no longer have my early bay so do not know how it is today.

I used A Plan last year ( who were as helpful as possible ) unfortunately the underwriter was MarkerStudy , as mentioned in other threads ,I got the price I was happy with ,some insurers RH etc wont insure me as I have no garage or driveway just a parking spot away from the house ( 50m) so does limit my options . The guaranteed value forms hadn't been approved the accident was 3 days after renewing / changing broker ( I have to send pictures etc every year) and despite marker study previously g'tee the value through a different broker the year before would not honour it ,I spent over £100 on phone calls as the number is 10p a minute and not included in normal mobile contracts , found it impossible to get through to them over 3 hours on hold sometimes , they continually wanted to write off / put retention fee of 65% value etc ,and would not cover the full amount of repairs ,would not pay any vat ,I have to apply for that after repairs have been done. even though parts etc have to be paid for with vat.I tried the ombudsman etc with no real help or advice . This happened in August last year , I finally agreed to a payment May/June this year approx 3-5k less than repair cost as they essentially wore me down and I just want my bus back on the road ,I miss it dearly .I think there are some great insurance brokers out there who do there best to help out all the classics ,but they have no control over the underwriters ( I won't personally have MarkerStudy as an underwriter again). Sadly I think its pot luck when you take out insurance ,and your never really know until you have a accident . Thankfully no one was hurt in the accident ,it was completely my fault . and I will get my bus back on the road ...eventually. CxIMG_2321.jpg

Aw man!! So sorry to hear your insurance fiasco! Thanks for the warning will have to see who JK use as underwriters.
What a lovely panel! Hope you get it fixed nicely and soon!
All the best!

Sorry to hear about the terrible service you’ve received at the hands of the insurance company. The agreed valuation should have been paid IMO it’s just an excuse to say you hadn’t sent in the pics yet. You’d already paid for the insurance!
It does make me worry about what my experience would be if anything happened to my bus.

Thanks ,It was unfortunate timing , but as they wouldn't honour the agreed value it pushed the van into w/off value, they decided it was worth 11k and would not budge, without the agreed value I had no leg to stand on. I probably wont drive the bus when finally back on the road until ,the g'tee value forms have all been agreed . I am getting it repaired , it will cost me significantly more than was paid out ,but as with all vw's and all classics there is always that emotional connection/story etc , when I first bought it my late father ( a mechanic) didn't get it but loved working on it with me. I think his exact words were "I didn't like them 40 years ago and I still don't like them now! " however it always made him smile , and always makes me smile .. and that's priceless

Smiles per gallon,,, that is exactly what these are all about. I very rarely go in my garage and don’t talk to my bus, and I very rarely look at him for more than a mille second without conjuring up some memory of something I’d got up to with my bus or something that’s on the horizon like Dubs At The Castle that is cruising up towards us at lightning speed  so best get everything back together for that and possibly a bit of a test drive tooooo;) I muck about with my bus loads and loads, sometimes on my own and sometimes the nephews come and just talk and hang out in my garage and sometimes they help too, my pal Steve is much more on the engine side than me and we’ve burnt some midnight oil in there loads of times with him tutting me etc etc:rolleyes:

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, YES!! Memories,,,, that’s what it’s all about :)

So because my bus is not in a garage now, it has to have a CAT1 alarm fitted.
An expensive exercise either way, DIY or install. Time being a major factor. More insurance hunting.:mad:
Asked for a call back from JK and it did not materialise. Asked another two today via their websites.

Will find something eventually I am sure.

Try Comfort Insurance....I have found them very good and specialise in camper vans. John

Im with Classic Line, insured to be on the street (although its garaged) agreed value no tracker or actually any security devices required. Pretty good price as well

Hi, I managed to get my 18yo son insured on my Early Bay after he had been driving a year. The only company that would do it was Adrian Flux which I'm not thrilled about but no options. He looked at loads of insurers. Some wanted a year driving, some wanted him to be 19 etc. I am with Classic line with my other van and wanted to stay with them but they wouldnt touch it. He had to be the main driver though!! I am now a named driver.
