OK a little over two weeks in Cornwall, granted a lot of it spent on the seafront at Mawgan Porth or in the Merrymoor Inn, but surely I should have seen more than 1 Earlybay.....

**** loads of 25s', lates and new bays but only the 1 EB 72 XO

So here she is owned by Matt (I think, sorry if I got it wrong fella) and his companion Bobbie from the IOM

The roof stood out across the carpark at Morissons in Newquay so whilst Helen refueled I legged it across to get a snap and a chat with the owners....

they've only been in the area for a couple of weeks and killed the motor on the journey down ( conrod through the case...nice...) £1500 for a on the road crossover with the usual minor rust issues and rock solid chassis bargains still out there...anyone recognise the roof? he seems to think its a genuine of age dorma???

meant to drop into the mermaid on a wednesday but 1 too many ciders and no driver available left me stranded somewhat on the campsite with even more cider

Morrisons car park Newquay...... you gotta love it!

We spent 1 night in Newquay last summer and went to Morrisons twice....

8 bays in the car park, count 'em - 8!! over the 2 visits - oddly enough though, all late models.

Could there be some truth in the theory?

did you go to "the vw village"? you would have seen the first two there plus a supercool adventurewagen that`s been slammed and narrowed, a couple of 68 westies and a sadly damaged devon. Hope you enjoyed cornish cornwall. If i`d remembered you were coming i`d have invited you over for a braai and a beer

just chilled and didnt do a lot....the fishing was ***** but hey i was away from work

Helen and Antony did all the usual tourist bits and left me and the dog to the beach for most of it....

go down every year and almost had a rain free stay this time.... dropped the tent in the rain again though

Mine will be down there in a few weeks time. :D Cant wait.

Newquay morrisons wht a great place.

be sure to drop in at the mermaid inn on a wednesday evening for a very chilled vw club meet and to take a peek at the so called"village" at killiwherries industrial estate in chacewater near truro. Head east on the a30 from newquay towards redruth. When you get to a very big roundabout ( known as chiverton roundabout)turn left towards truro then follow signs for chacewater.

I sometimes think that also.partically in the winter and I live in cornwall.Dont get over to Newquay very often because theres so many other great places that dont get all the piss heads and stag partys,or maybe its because Im a BOF (boring old fart)

chrisby,
totally agree about newquay...i avoid it like the plague particularly in summer. It`s bad enough living in perran. I like nothing more than getting in my bus and driving to the lizard or surfing in the shadow of st michaels mount....oops secret spot.Good luck finding it though!!! and catching it at the right tide. On a different note wahey lewis..way to go

me two 18th jul for 3 weeks

Im going down 1st 2 weeks in Aug.
Starting of in St Austell for a few nights.
Then working our way around staying a few nights at a time. Still trying to find somwhere to stay around Falmouth area. Any IDEAS! Not into those big fancy sites, keep it simple and basic.
Have joined the camping and caravan club ( i sound like an old man now), to stay on some of their temporary sites.

Missing newquay this year went last year for a few days and was not impressed with it, keep thinking every time i go there it will be better .

I was down there last weekend and going again in august, seen lot's, followed a nice devon back up the M5 from exeter also

When your coming down to Cornwall I recommend that you have a look at the Lizard and the Roseland, both have got some great little beaches and if your prepared to walk a bit you might get one all to yourselves.Ordinance Survey maps are the way to find these places. We often go out at the weekends and try to use all the little lanes which make the average B road seem like a motorway, the sort of lane where both sides of the van are in the vegetation and grass is growing down the middle. This is the Cornwall that I love. :)

Thats the Cornwall i love, worked in cornwall for 10 yrs doing deliveries to remote areas these kind of roads are good for cleaning the underside of you van driving over the grass. Love the cornish mile about 2 of our English miles.

Chrisby see your from Falmouth, do you know of any sites around your area, want to spend some time in Falmouth this year.
Cheers RD.

Hi rustydiver, theres 2 that are on the road to Maenporth :pennance Mill and Tregedna Farm. Ive been told that the Pennance Mill site is a more formal sort of site with hard standing pitches aimed at carravanners, whilst Tregedna Farm is pitch where you like, has good toilet/showers and is walking distance of Maenporth beach and a pub that does food.
Hope this is of some help. Chris

On the scrouge for info looking for quiet surf beaches, got the 8 year old with us so needs to be nice and safe. Done perranporth and fistral last weekend which is ok for me but a bit busy for her.
Also any good eating places on the beach.

ianscooby
on the sth coast:praa Sands, surfing, swimming, lifegards and a choice of eating places.
nth coast:Godrevy/Gwithian big National Trust parking area, surfing, swimming, lifegards and a couple of eating places ,ones called sandsifters, that has evening entertainment also.Cant remember the name of the otherone.
nth coast;Porthtowan, surfing, swimming, lifegards and the Blue bar,try a Blue burger, live music in the evening not sure if every night.
Im not a surfer myself but my son whos been doing it for about 15 years, said that all the above places have currents that you have to be aware of partically with a little un,but thats the case with all of Cornwall.
Hope this is of some help.
Chris
