While were here and its been mentioned, I can even see the point of those who say cross overs arn't 'early' bay's, after all, once the design changes from the first model then they're not 'early' - they're mid Bay's
02.68 chassis number 218098285 Hazard light switch and relay changed; certain switch functions transferred from the relay to the switch.

That first model didnt last all that long ;)

Very dissapointed with Camper and bus though, I was a bit insulted with the 'stuff you need to work on your bus' pages, what a blatant page filler!

whilst we're on the subject... i had a little glance at the front page... as you do...

HOW TO: BUILD THE LOWEST BUS IN TOWN

blooming heck i thought... in capitals as well

now, i'm a firm believer that the how-to pages shold be on stuff like how to check the oil for complete meffs and all that sort of stuff... if you have to consult a 3-page magazine feature for advice on how to build a lowered beam then maybe it's a bit beyond you but even so, i like the technical stuff, you can usually poke holes in it and it's a laugh, but with such an ATTENTION GRABBING headline as that i really thought it'd be worth a read this month... i've been away from the 'net for a while, maybe it's a full build-up feature on matt ballz' bus or something ? (what with that actually BEING the lowest bus in town and all)

but no.

how to build the lowest bus in town ?

basically, cut your wheelarches out, weld two trailer arches together, and lash them back in their place.

et voila... lowest bus in town apparently.

*ever get the feeling you've been cheated*

The crossover was never a design change to be fair, merely an upgrade. The first earlybays were never an all new van just a late split with improved cab, cooling and glass area, the sliding door had already appeared on the last of the split panels.
You could argue that the 68 model is as much a crossover as a 72 and that infact there really is only one VW van that has evolved over many years, surely thats argument enough for having its own (aircooled) publication.

And on a splitty the......... nah cant be arsed its too easy  though I do kind of agree with it, in fact what is an early bay anyway, there all if you break them down riddled with one year only parts, colours trim etc....
