Hi I bought a second hand JK van cover of Volkszone during the summer and have been using it over the last few days..... I have just been out to see how good it is at keeping rain water of the van it's not good new!!!!!

I think it would be better with no cover on currently as its seems to retain the water and condensation on the bay's body work the gutter chanels are filled to the brim!!!

Good job all the seals are water tight, dry as the sahara inside

Has any one else had experiences with keeping there bay under a JK cover, is it because I really need a new cover...Buy Cheap pay twice and all?

Any suggestion would be grand:p:p

I had exactly the same with a JK cover and ended up taking it off as the outside dried out but the inside was soaking wet the same as yours, it then traps the water against the bodywork which is not a great idea.

You ideally need a breathable one, there was a thread recently about them that I think 5erge posted, do a quick search,

I didnt have a jk one but a similar quality and I think it did more harm than good, def a good quality breathable one is the way to go.

I had the JK one - from new, and wasn't impressed - similar to what you have found.

There is another thread on here about covers to go for, but you are taking double the price of the JK as a minimum though.

Apparently the Hamilton covers are the best.

Personally I think people expect too much from covers, they are just that and not cheap garages ;) I use one outside in the summer, just to stop bird muck, uv damage, and water ingress into window channels etc. In the winter its a dust cover inside :D

Any cover needs removing as often as possible when its a nice/dry/windy day to get the air around the van, but they are just a layer against the elements, not a barrier.

I echo what Clem says really.

When my van was outside I too regarded my cover as more of a layer to stop bird muck, UV, leaves etc, and to protect from frost and keep the rain out of the channels etc. I would always remove it frequently, to 'air' the van.

My van lives permanently inside now, but I still use it for the same purposes as Clem does his, as a dust cover and a protector against the occasional stray dive-bombing pigeon that might find its way into my van's 'digs' :D

Yep, my JK cover sucks and retains water on the bus :(
Might be worth going to a camping shop and buying some tent spray. It deffo works on my tents and awnings so could be worth a go.

Im sort of with Clem on this one. They are good to keep off unwanted crap but only really any good for showers. Mine tends to wick water (unless its condensation) but the strange thing is it must be waterproof to a certain extent as i get a great paddeling pool in the roof rack rails when it hammers it down.

I only put mine on when the bus is clean to be honest as the dirt and crap can do lots of damage when the wind whips the cover.

I have just got a JK cover and am now worried its not doing its job :(

So whats this about tent spray? Is it safe on paint? does it work? If so how? Is it like wax? tell me more...........

I've said it before and it bears repeating - a JK cover spoilt my paintwork and I gave it away. They are cheap for a reason.

I also moved off the JK forum as their precious people took exception to me posting a message such as this. I will never buy anything from them again!

I think the idea is to spray the cover more than the van! :D

I was thinking about buying a cover. But I'm not sure when I'd ever be able to put it on. Most mornings the van is covered in condensation so it's never dry enough to cover.

Don't bother save your money utter crap, bit like most of what jk sell. I only used mine on a van I was scrapping didn't stop the rain getting in.

 Thats the bane of my life!

If youre doing cheap, my mate uses Lidl car covers as dust sheets, they come down past the windows and are only £15, don't know how good they are at keeping rain out but they work with dust :D

As per my previous post, the coverzone ones are excellent but expensive. 3 days of proper hardcore rain and my bus is still dry.
