Hi all, my new bus has been fitted with a pair of kadron carbs?. Does anyone know much about these, parts etc. There fitted to a 1600sp, are they fuel guzzlers? am I best sticking original type solex and sp manifold back on?

I had no end of issues with these carbs. they have alot of flat spots and all end of set-up couldn't get them right. Me and the pro's included...I went back to standard and then twin webber 40's.

This might help you with your research:

http://www.lowbugget.com/kadronpage.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

especially the link to the labour parts section where it tells you how to drill the vacuum advice hole so you can use with an original dizzy - apparently helps alot.

Hi

I had a very different experience with my old ones on my splitty.

They were bloody great, gave good power and not bad on fuel either.

I had my engine built up with them on and I know the guy who built it did a common modification to them but I can't remember what???? Sorry!

Post something on VZI as I remember the mod being discussed / detailed on there last year.

Good carbs if you can get them set up right.

Good Luck!

They are the cheaper end of the market, but as so often happens crappy later versions produced, there always were probs with the orig linkage bar being poor or atleast the coupling...... but nothing that couldnt be overcome.....good power to economy gain over standard set up, as you hope from any twin set up, you have the benefit of short manifolds reducing the chance of the fuel dropping from suspension so a more economical burn more bangs for your bucks....spend a little time setting up the motor and you should be fine fella......

.................................fuel economy on mine doesn't seem bad but I drive faster because I can :lol: etc. Never had a problems with them since having them recommended 8) and fitted 8) by the garage (they were a 2nd hand pair of genuine solex 40's).

I run them on my bug, not had any problems with them really. They get 40mpg on a mild 1641 on long runs (bug not bus though) and it goes pretty well when I put my foot down.
