Is it possible to make a late bay fuel tank fit an earlybay? I know the breather pipe is slightly bigger and the filler is at a different angle , would the sender not sit straight/level?

The late bay tank uses a sender that fits in the tank with a bayonet fitting (a bit like a light bulb).

The early bay (and late up to mid 73) uses one thats held with 5 screws.

Early bay guages won't work with a late bay sender.

I've got one fitted into my '72. Haven't tried the gauge yet but having researched I believe it's just different resistance ranges so a gauge matcher should sort that out.

Had to beat a small section of the floor flat as the late tank had a very slightly deeper 'foot' at one point (also meant it was a bugger to get through the firewall!) but mated up to the inlet pipe fine. I know the '72 is different so not sure if that would be the case on an early.
