Found these (not cheap though  )

http://www.amazon.com/GE-69821-Nighthawk-Round-Headlamp/dp/B00BQX2BT8/ref=au_as_r?ie=UTF8&Make=Volkswagen%7C74&Model=Transporter%7C957&Year=1972%7C1972&carId=002&n=15684181&newCar=1&s=automotive&vehicleType=automotive" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyone tried them or would like to??

I drive mine in the dark loads of the time and find the original lamps ok (would probably benefit from new relectors tho).
You may find that those lamps are not legal for uk use?

May change mine over to late bay lights at some stage but reluctant as I dont like the flatter glass that much :(

Why not - cost is silly and you may be right, not legal (although more new cars are coming with LED lights).
But, less power from your battery and better lighting. Also, the bulbs should last for a long time!

Cheers

I don't know about the kit you linked to but the Mustang I rented in the US earlier this year had LED headlights and I was not impressed. I'm not sure if they were less powerful in output or whether it was down to the slightly blue light but driving in the dark did not feel as safe as I would have liked.

As a result I would want a demonstration before investing in aftermarket LED headlights.

Presumably these lamps are intended to comply with the North American right-hand dipping DOT specifications, for headlamps, which would be TOTALLY unsuitable for countries like Great Britain, Japan and most of the British Commonwealth, requiring left-hand dipping headlamps.

Left and right dipping are controlled by the small cut out in the back of the lense which positions the bulb slightly off horizontal. Not by the bulb itself.

If nobody pointed new and different stuff out where would we be !!! So good spot low consumption too being led .

This is another of the ZILLLION things on my to do list, so I is glad you spotted it,, headlights to see by and to be seen as well,,, what a novelty, instead of the two yellow bowls of custard I currently have installed at the front of my bus and what I calls headlights

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, I automaticaly reads it backwards now I knows,, but didn`t know I was doin it till just now,,, how weird

We have installed some ones for test on the works 1956 split single cab, they are ACE, they are brighter than the lights on my daily and are such an improvment on what we had before.

Only thing I didnt like was the look of these on such a classic vehcile, but they are growing on me.

I will let you know how the test goes, but the more people are interested in this the more likely we will look into a kit for Bays.

Glad that you are looking into this - I always like to see where I am going (not to bothered on where I have been..)
Possible cost??
