Hiya

Could someone give me a clue as to what my van started out as and year of manufacturer?

m code below
22 116 405
06051 A41 500 520 :D
07 2 7338 EN
234011

Thanks

just off to work but instantly its a 71 Microbus delivered to the uk

double slider 520 and cab partion with a front 2 seater bench 500

A41 is the uk kit lights mph speedo etc...

someone else will fill in the details....

Hope this helps.....

22 = 1972 model year
116405 = chassis number
060651 = think there may be a 6 missing from the colour code, which would make it pastel white all over with dark beige interior
A41 = mcode group 020 061 187
020 = Speedometer & odometer in Miles
061 = Type labelling of seat mounting and identification plate for England and Ireland
187 = Headlamps for countries with left hand traffic
500 = Full width metal partition between cabin and load compartment
520 = With sliding door on left and right side
07 2 = build date Tuesday 15th February 1972
7338 = temporary production code
EN = UK Ramsgate
2340 = Kombi RDH sliding door standard version
11 = 1300 or 1600cc engine 4spd (need to check engine code to confirm)

..... :D

You may want to look again surely the 22 = microbus 1 = 71 model and the rest of the chassis number 16405 is the serial

somone on VZI requested a colour check on 06051 wasnt you by anychance was it cogsys33

I made that mistake and got corrected by Loxy & Speedman - they seem to know their stuff!

See: http://www.type2.com/m-codes/t2models.html

The first two digits of the chassis number do not appear on the options plate so the first digit - in this case 2 - identifies the model year, the following digit identifies its a type 2, the remaining 6 digit number is the serial number.

Gotta think about my username now... :? :?

The chassis number is always 6 digits long, on the M Plate it has 2 digits in front, the first is the model year the next is the extra number to show its a 1970s vehicle......

.....however on the chassis plate its a longer number.....

which shows the model (23 is Kombi) L or RHD (odd for left, even for right) and then the chassis number from the Mplate.

The plates are a bit tricky to decode to start with, but with practise I've found it quite easy......since I bought the book I use I've decoded about 40+ vans for people on here and various other forums :mrgreen:
