Am I right in thinking the max RPM of the stock 1600tp is 4200?

Also, people running modified engines / specially build engines, what max RPM are you getting? I figure to obtain a higher RPM you need to put in a bigger / longer crank etc right?

I would think the main thing is that the engine is designed to be able to cope with the higher rpm, so a stronger crank rather than longer, good condition bearings, stronger rocker assemblies, pushrods, every thing balanced etc etc

I think some (if not all?) stock engines may have come with rev limiting rotor arms @4500rpm.

Crank would need to be counter weighted & balanced AFAIK, I had my oval (balanced but not weighted) up to a shade over 6k a couple of times but I reckon the bearings would get hammered after a while.

hmm Interesting, thanks guys.

On my old 1775 installed in my bus, I shifted @ 6500RPM on "sport" driving, Good stock balanced crank (non counterweighted but Al case),stock balanced rods, chromo pushrods, dual springs, chromo keepers & retainers, bolted rockers arms
