Hi,

Thought Id start a resto thread for my Californian import 1969 Westy. I bought it last year and done a few bits to it so far but mostly mechanical work so we could use it for our family holiday last year around Devon.

Anyway here it is while we were away:7ed316c9-da07-46ac-be29-fc9e541341c0.jpg

My kids love it :D

The gearbox is noisy so either gonna have it rebuilt or look for a good used box, and Im planning on tidying the engine up. Iv got a SVDA dizzy for it to replace the cheap 009 on there, and a Solex 34 pict 3 to rebuild and fit. Planning on detailing the engine and engine bay while the gearbox is out.

Not sure if Im going to lower it yet but I will be fitting a servo at some point and maybe discs. We will see. Half tempted to lower it as my other VWs are stock and I dunno if I want 3 stock VWs. Heres my others incase your interested.

My 55 Swedish Beetle, all OG matching number. Love this car:

Any my 61 mango split project that was originally supposed to be our family holiday bus but I cant find the time to work on it between customers restos. Planning on doing it 100% stock with a Devon or SO23 Westy interior:

Cheers, Neil

Bought a gearbox from Paplo66 on here as a known good working order that he removed from his mates low mileage 69 to replace it with a 6 rib. So hopefully get that fitted soon.
