If I had found my van as little as two years ago I may have had one of the few OG paint totally unmolested UK right hand drive sunroof Deluxes on the road. Sadly I didnt and in that time it had a bit of a ropy paint job and the interior ripped out, gone too was some of the unique chrome trim and the original hubcaps. Alas all is not lost, the van is remarkably solid and still has most of its original sheet metal, inside the petrol flap, engine bay etc are still in the original Niagra blue and underneath all the white hardboard were most of the original grey Deluxe panels, the rare ones with the chrome trims. My mission is to return it to its former glory as best I can though I would like to retain the R&R bed and curtains.
My questions to you knowledgable folk are :-

Were can I get some niagra blue paint, and how far up do I go on a Deluxe, the belt line or the guttering, ive seen both?

Inside the bus im still looking for a grab handle,(the bulkhead one) and one arm rest, the centre seat in grey (not sure if im gonna use it but i might) and a deluxe drivers seat or cover and backrest knob.

Outside the only things missing are the bumper trims, would be nice to find an og set but not nice enough to pay nearly £300 for a repo set.

The jailbars (holes still there) sliding door panel, hubcaps etc I could propably get repos.
So there you have it , the vans actually my Girlfriends and she has other ideas but ive got the tool kit and garage key and I know she will love it. Finally do you think lowering it a bit would spoil the original look of the van and has anyone ever seen Deluxe chrome rear light trims (crossover type) or was I dreaming?

I should have the backrest knob from my 71 kicking around the shed ill dig it out and post a pic later just to see if thats what your after, I'm assuming your meaning the large tilt adjust to the front of the base....

I think a subtle lowering job can look great - but it's a very personal thing; I've always felt that if you go just a bit lower then your bus will look better (IMHO) and not get blown about so much on the motorway. I'd recommend searching for pics of a bus with the ride height you like and contacting the owner...

;)

I thought I was missing an armrest on my deluxe but it may not be an armrest! I've been told it may be a pocket for papers etc. I'll post a pic later.

A pic of my knob for you
