Narrowed beam?

Here's one for those of you with narrowed beams...

If you fit a narrowed beam on your bus do you have to modify the front chassis? My stock beam sits snugly onto the outer side of the chassis members, so where would the outer parts of a narrowed beam sit?

Sorry if I've missed something obvious here...

here is a picture of mine,a 10mm plate replaces the standard towers and the tubes that stick into the arch area are also shorter i think,you can also see how the anti roll bar has been heated and bent to fit the new profile
 
basically you lose the width from the shock towers, bay ones are quite thick and when replaced with steel plate are much narrower.
of course the tubes need narrowing to suit along with the leaves and trackrods
:D
