I've got a 1971 LHD and had decided to get it rewired and decided on a replacement loom. Spoken to a few autoelectricians recently who say that it may not be necessary to put in a full new loom and may just need the end wires changing. In principle this sounds ok but surely if the wires inside the loom are damaged/ worn etc then I'm going to end up with problems later on.

I'm looking for advice as to whether the loom should be changed or if it is possible to repair the existing loom suitably.

Thanks

I'm not sure of this myself, my loom looked as new inside the black tubing (!) but the exposed wires looked a bit sorry for themselves, will try to patch them up but will only use the old loom when every wire has been tested.

I was thinking about repairng parts of the loom but then if you are restoring your bus you will always be thinking if its as good as it could be... Also, there are a few people who will fabricate a complete loom for you with any custom additions you might want (stereo, fogs etc).. Theres a guy on here I think but cant remember his name
