Hello all, just joined up after picking up an early bay with Dormobile conversion, it's not my first bay, but as I sold my last one 20 years ago it may as well be!

It's pretty solid and while I have many and numerous plans for the old girl, the most immediate is concerned with the original Dormobile interior and the in particular the rear bench (3/4 width in original configuration). This has had lap belts fitted at some point in the past which are functional, although I am seriously considering upgrading them to 3 point for additional safety for the kids, however, before I do this I am concerned that the base (the bit you sit on) of the seat does not lock in position and just slides forward and up which is obviously undesirable in an emergency braking situation. Should this seat base fix or locate somehow when in the seating position and if so how? A couple of pics would be really appreciated if at all possible.

Many thanks, Justin

On the underside of the seat base there should be two metal pins, which locate into the holes in the metal runners under the seat. (The runners the table slides into for storage).

Welcome Justin. Nice to see another 68 Dormobile on here.

Yes as Trikky2 says, there are locating pins under the seat that slot into the table storage runners. When they are fitted there is very little movement.

Thanks guys... that's really helpful. I did notice the holes in the frame for the table but could see nothing on the underside of the seat. I'll check again. Were these originally something screwed onto the bottom of the seat base, or did they come through from the topside of the base? I'm wondering if a simple long bolt secured with a slim nut and flat washer would do the trick?

I'll get some pics up in a few days of her as she stands, currently waiting on the reg docs and a new SS exhaust to be delivered from Vintage Speed as mine is completely rotted away.

Thanks again, Justin.

I know this is an old thread - but - am I missing something here - is the table supposed the slide into the seat base then? I genuinely had no idea!

Yes, it's what the metal rails are for. They should have felt strips inside to protect the table and prevent rattles.
