Hello Blondiedread, Welcome (I used to have dredds!! have pics somewhere!)

I've only just found this thread!, I thought I should intro myself as been a member for about a week.

Pics to follow!! and thanks to everyone who helped me with advice so far even though I hadn't intro'd myself!

I am a very! proud owner of a 1970 Westy from California. She is a proper good bus! with orig interior and very solid. Sooo lucky, in the words of Mr John king who I bought the Westy from "you've really dropped on here for your first bus" and I think I really have!

It came with a stack of history from the one owner in the States inc all servicing invoices from the dealership he bought her from, inc orig bill of sale!, absolutely everything, all servicing work, orig manuals inc and get this!!...
a diary the gentleman had kept of his Gas and oil consumption on journeys, compression tests (numerous) are all written up, how and when he rotated the tyres inc sketches! sketches of the UJ's and which ones had covered how many miles, which ones had been renewed and this is the best bit!!..
in the back of the diary a record of where he (and my Bus) had visited all documented with date and time of departure, mileage, arrival, mileage. where he had set out from and end destination. Proper Wicked!

Brilliant Website and can't wait to get some pics posted for everyone.

Tim

can anyone help me decide what camper to look out 4 to buy? cheers guys gary

Hi gary .....welcome to EB
as there are several types of camper interiors, you have to decide what you need it for
there are vw shows nearly every weekend so drop in on one or two where you'll find
Westy, Devon .Danbury,Doremobile & custom one-offs
My own preference is the Devon Moonraker 8)

a good choice, i looked at alot of interiors custom as well and settled on the devon moonraker too.

welcome to all new dooods and dooodettes! 8)

Just want to say hi i'm a newbie i have made my mind up that this is the year that i'm going to buy a dub so any advice or tips would be welcomed big thanQ

Hey crusin, welcome to EB.
First things first make your mind which model you like and one that meets your needs, pop top (Dormobile, westy, etc)or tin top. There are loads out there to choose from, always go and have a look at the thing your buying, and if your not sure what to look for take a friend that does and hopefully he or she will stop you from buying a shitta......I'm sure if you buy from a dedicated VW seller they'll help you also. Also have a total budget in mind whether your going to buy a bus that needs TLC so extra cash will be needed or buy one thats already done don't break the bank, even though these things have gone up in price over the years a hell of alot. Have a look on here for campers for sale, dubsforsale.com, autotrader under caravans and motorhomes, ultra vw classifieds, camper and bus, thesamba.com, even european people I bought mine at kieftenklok.nl

Anyway welcome again and happy hunting

Hey there Bay Low 71 thanx for the welcome and for the tips Im still looking and have been doing for several months now i'm pretty sure i've decided on a tin top although i have been prone to changing my mind every time i see a really cool pop top :? it seems i end up finding ones that are always really expensive lol last one i got excited over was 12 grand but i pretty much recon i can stretch to 8 do you think its worth paying for a dub specialist to do a once over on one if i find one ?? More tips welcome :D

Not said welcome to the newbies for ages, so a warm welcome from me and I hope that you enjoy
yourself as much as I have :D

And don't forget, piccies speak many a word

A bit remise of me not saying a hi to the newbies for some time .... welcome guys and good hunting ... remember if your new to vw campers take someone along preferably with aircooled experience but not essential, someone that will reign you back into reality  weve all been there and most spent a long time and mistakes along the way finding that bus thats just right....

Decide on your ride

Van
Single cab
Double cab
Microbus
Camper
Conversion prefered or are you going custom
Set yourself a budget remember to include any repairs that need to be included in this....
Mechanics and body work come before the engine, engines are a plenty for the time being at least.

There are some bargains out there still, theres some real nice ones on here if your after an unmollested used van, and theres a couple of real peaches not cheap but then there read to go and enjoy......

hello! only pic i have available but it is a panel and i love it. had about a 8ish year gap in vw ownership and its great to be back.
