Hello to everyone on here......
After looking at bays and splits for years and years I have decided to buy one, well nearly!
My wife and I came close five years ago but bought a sensible car instead :?
We have now seen the light and are looking for a nice bay camper that we can take our ten year old away in with us for family breaks :D

If anyone has advice on buying, tips, great places to go etc... I would welcome your valued input.

A great site, keep up the good work :)

Hi!

It can take quite a lot of hunting to find a good bus. Here is a very good place to look though. You should be able to check the history of the bus by looking at the seller's past posts or restoration threads so at least you will be able to make an informed decision.

Be prepared to drive around the country looking for the ideal bus and don't forget to budget for maintenance afterwards. Don't trust over-priced shiny paint jobs unless you have seen how the bus was restored.

Some will do a quick makeover to turn a profit, but you've no idea what is underneath those layers of paint! Take someone with you if you can, there are people on forums willing to help, but even the experienced can miss stuff.

The more I read, the more it put me off spending all that money, but we were determined to get a bus for our young one growing up. An imported dry state restoration project is probably your safest bet as you will know what will need to be done and it will require less welding than a bus that's been in wetter climates for decades. But be prepared to spend way over your budget and wait 2 years! We couldn't wait, so bought a partly restored bus and I'm about to start on the interior.

There are some very nice buses in the sales section at the moment, so depending on your budget hopefully you can find something that suits.

What he said. That said I couldn't afford a good bus so bought a right tramp. 3 years later nearly there. Spent probably more over all but I couldn't afford it all in a 1er.
