Okay, excuse me if I show myself up as being dim, but here goes.
I know the Early Bay has low lights ... and that's the way I like them ... but I've been viewing some vans which are advertised as 1971 or 1972 but their indicators are above the headlamps. Does this mean that a) they're not advertised as being of the correct year b) the lights were moved on some models earlier than 1973 or c) I'm a bit thick ?

:?

Ta,
Gary

at least your noticing things and asking the right Qs before splashing the cash.....

as said likely that the fronts been replaced, confirm this by looking elsewhere
for instance if its a late (73>) then the front bemper will be square also behind this will be a large bulbous panel (Deformation panel), if you glance too the rear the fuel flap was moved closer to the rear corner in order that the cap could be accessed whilst the slider could be opened, square air intakes, large rear (tombstone) lights are all indicative of 72>, engine lid moulding on earlies (and early 72s) is almost mexican moustache like where as on the later runs across the width of the lid (Dali esque).

so if its got the high lights but all else is early then quiz them on the panel....

You may get the case when its a 73 'model' but actually made in 1972 (August onwards) - which means it can be described as a 1972 van but will legitimately have high indicators and other late features.

or they could be ringers  register your late bay on the docs of an early scrapper and you've got tax free motoring hence the high indicators on an early. if you're new to it and are not too sure about the crossover years. buy a van with wide five studs. then you know it is what it is.

Go for a 67 - 71 model year then it will deffo have low indicators :msn4:

Thanks all, I think Clem has the answer - or at least his reply is similar to that given by a seller I spoke to yesterday.

I think Grazy has the answer tho'!
