We have been to this site five times in the last eighteen years, the site is in a excellent location, across the road from a beach & a pub, with a 30 min walk into Newquay itself or you can catch the bus right outside the site, if you don't want to walk. The site itself is very level with enough room for our VW camper van & awning.

Now I have to say after we stopped there this year I DON'T know if we would go back again. when we turned up to our pitch there were little bits of rubbish on the pitch, so after pitching a 5 min clean was required (no major problem). The main problem was the toilets and showers, they were dirty, my wife asked me if the mens were dirty, which they were, so we called in to reception to point this out to the staff, we were told that we were the first to complain this season & were thanked for our 'feedback'
Nothing was done for the rest of the time we were there, it just seems they were happy with a quick swill round, never were the toilets closed anytime so they could be properly cleaned.
The problem with the pitch having little bits of rubbish on is because when someone moves from the pitch the staff just go round it with a ride on lawn mower which just chopped up any rubbish
This is not a cheap site either as it cost £33 a night for the pitch with electric.
Shame really as for it's location it is really good, maybe they had a off week

We've stayed there before over the years but not for some time. Its a great place to stay.Have thought about going again but it sounds like standards have dropped. We have just stayed at Cromer that was £21 a night.

We stayed at Watergate Bay, lovely site very child friendly with large play area, large pitches, electric hook up,very clean toilets and showers.
They provide a free Bus service to Watergate Bay Beach as it's a steep walk, ok on the way down, but hard work climbing back up.
2nd year we have stayed at the site and cannot fault it,little bit further away from Newquay but I think its worth it to get a good site

I love watergate bay we went the back end of the season an had a whole field to are selves...... well they did say at the end that they expected us to be noisey
great facilities an all very clean

also we went to hendra this year an got a right bargin.. standard pitch no hookup etc was £55 for a week each again spotless site an very welcoming.... it was packed when we were there pitch wise but you would never have known cause the sites massive with lots of everything :)... Plus spotted another early bay there when we were quing get booked in but never found it again :-(

Been a few others too but can't remember the names

But a few mates had the same problem at porth an they won't go back as the mower pee'd them off every morning at 9am :-s shame as its got lotsa potential
