Right... The trip to bustypes was my buses first long run on a newish engine.

I bought and fitted the engine last year, but because of suspension stripdowns the bus hasn't really gone anywhere for a while.

I bought it as a 400mile recon turnkey, its appearance suggested this to be true, before fitting i checked compression, changed oil and adjusted valve clearance etc. its a 1641cc twinport, twin solex carbs, electronic ignition, standard exhaust. Its had the timing checked and the carbs balanced and tuned

i noticed that compared to my old lump 1641, single Weber, 4 into 1 it lacked a little power, this was confirmed whilst cruising to the show leon's engine is totally stock and easily had more power. I was trying to keep my speed down as i should be still running it in. But when i did put my foot down there seemed to be nothing there. I was carrying a little more weight. but the engine just seemed gutless.
I've convinced myself that a 4 into 1 will sort it but then i remember all the clearance issues i had before(thats why i've got a stock box on now)

so what the engine guru's think?

thanks in advance.

What dissy are you using sounds like the spark is not advancing or your timing has slipped past top dead center.

endorse the pedal linkage check, was losing a third of throttle opening in wear in the pedal links.

Just got the mrs to press the pedal and guess what.... the carbs only opened 2/3 of the way, that will be where my power is then :D

Been replacing the 41 year pedal linkage today..... as you can see it has seen better days

Its done the trick though :)
