I am wondering what you lovely people think about the price of parts again :) A couple of years ago when I broke an early things were really expensive but having a quick look through ebay today they don't seem to go for as much, if at all.

Has everyone rebuilt their buses now and all the old stuff is just surplus?

Not at all. Everything I need seems horrifically expensive

Front dog leg arches 450 each
Sliding doors 1000

... apparently....

NOS wheel arch was €450. I picked up cuts for £250 each. Sliding doors 'could' reach a grand, but what they are now is bloody expensive!

On my hunt for wheel arches (I felt like i found the only RHS one in the world!), someone said people are restoring them more now than breaking them.

Um.. in my experience (limited though it is as I've only been in this game 2.5 years), the prices of stuff seems to be as strong as ever... perhaps the cost of buses complete has taken a bit of a hit and we've discussed that in another thread...

The thing that gets me a bit is when people are selling online, in the instance I am referring to it was on eBay.. the photo's posted in the ad were of poor quality, so, with 2 day or so to run on the auction I asked for some better ones so I could determine if itwas what I was looking for (quality wise).. I didn't get the photos and the item (a very rare one at that) didn't sell... :?

I think prices have dropped for general second hand items . For specific parts like panels and cuts the price seemsnto have risen and new parts continue to rise.

I bought some new king pins (genuine) -120 a joint as opposed to the 65-75 about 5yrs ago (makes K&L conversions even more)

That said, aloof parts do not seem to sell as I think people are feeling the pinch.more and more these days which is bad news for me as I clear out my garage. That said I loaded the car with said parts that have not sold and will be weighing them in just before lunch as will be passing a metal yard. Kinda makese sad to recycle perfectly decent parts but equally I need the space back and that is more important to me.

Well thats sort of good news then :) I have just bought a load of spares from a friend, special discounts for early bay peeps :D (see my post in 'for sale')
Having been on the buying end of the spectrum while restoring my old girl, I understand how great it is to get a proper bargain, on the other hand I have to get a fair price so I can pay back my Mum who lent me the money to save these parts from the scrap man. I will try to find a happy medium :?

there is also alot of stuff available that 5 years ago you couldent get.front indicator housings were once rocking horse poo as were the lenses and you couldent get rear light units either.nowadays there readily available and cheap as chips so the old ones arent worth as much.the old heater knobs rose to £70 before the repro ones came out on the market and now there back at reasnable prices.deluxe trim....watch this space.its coming down in price

I remember those days strongy, I used autocavan a lot but often they didn't have the part, remember driving 100 miles for a brake caliper. That was before the internet though :? These young uns don't know they're born lol
If I could though I would have replaced everything with original parts as the new stuff is such crap quality.

Have you found an abandoned deluxe trim farm????
