Hi
Right, finally got the bus to idle, been having real trouble idleing and also very lumpy when accelerating. Been having to advance the timing a lot just to get the bus to run. Today I found the problem 8) Took the primary idle jet out and stuck in the end was a lump of what looked like tissue paper. Took this out and gave the carb a damned good clean, fitted refurb kit - power valve, accelerator pump and new needle valve, set up float.
Struck the van up and it idled miles too fast - been set up for the restriction. So i backed the idle off and now it will sit and idle.
Took the bus for a run and it is like a different bus - pulls really well, little hesitation, and idles sweet. 8) 8)
Anyway, still waiting to get it onto the rolling road and have the pros look at it. Below is the current set-up / jetting. I'm not sure this is correct, but it seems to run sweet. Before the trouble I was getting 25 - 27 to the gallon with this set up.
200 Needle Valve
170 Primary Air Correction
180 Secondary Air Correction
F6 Primary Emulsion Tube
F6 Secondary Emulsion Tube
145 Primary Main Jet
145 Secondary Main Jet
45 Primary Idle Jet
50 Secondary Idle Jet
I will update this when I get the results of the rolling road session - hope this helps someone, but as I say, this is not definitive.
My bus is stock 1600 with 123 distributor - setting 0, 10deg btdc @ idle vac off and sealed.
Cheers
Mark
