Quick electrical query

Mate of mine has just bought s caravan and looking over it noticed thast his consumer unit and 12 volt battery are both earthed to the chassis (at different points).My understanding it that the consumer unit is earthed by the hook up and I'm concerned that as it is, if there was a fault with the 240v system, when tripping it would effect the battery due to the fact both systems are lined by the earth route (via the negative terminal in the casze of the battery).

Am I right to be concerned?

No, the chassis and any other extraneous metallic parts must be earthed to comply with the wiring regulations.
