Just purchased a full width r n r bed from blue birds. I thought the machined solid beds looked well made but as a novice couldn't tell u if there better than any others or not.
My question is that when traveling bearing in mind the bed pulls forward into a sleeping position when in the seat position does it have to have a removable bolt or a quick realise mechanism so during a emergency stop it doesn't fall forward or doesn't this happen ???
Sorry this is my first buss its all new to me :)

Hi mate , I have a Bluebird one in my panelvan , and the only thing that goes forward under braking is the rear cushion on the bed as its not fixed to the upstand , board ,
Mine you kinda have to lift and pull the seat into the "bed" position !! ;)

Ok thanks that puts my mind at ease. Are u happy with the bluebird. I think it looks great little more expensive than others but one or two have said they don't like them. Didn't stop me buying one tho !

I am well happy to be honest mate , I got mine second hand off a mate , and i am more than happy with it , no problems !!

Have you seen rusty lees beds mate. He has them advertised in the for sale section on here. He is a damn site cheaper than bluebird and from all the reviews I have read his beds are just as good. Probs worth checking him out before you spend any unnecessary money.

Hi buddy I can supply you a bed if required. You can check my feedback on here if you doña search.

Cheers lee....

Think he made his mind up Rusty and brought a expensive bluebird even after everyones comments on your beds , must have money to burn lol

Hi sorry only just noticed the rest of the comments on the post. There has been mixed comments some people love the bluebird beds some say others are cheaper n do the same thing. Im sure rustys beds are brill beds it looks good. I did make a decision and ordered a bluebird.no other reason apart from i liked the look. Strangely it arrived today a week or two early. Its not even out the packet yet. Ill give a report as to what i think. If its not up to scratch it can go back n ill get on the blower to rusty and order one of his !

Still not had a proper look yet. Hope to look Fri. I did just grab instructions out from the box. Not the easiest to understand ( bet rustys would have been easier lol )
It says if no fixing points in van use plate provided with 4 x self tapping screws - caution petrol tank behind. Where exactly is petrol tank does it go right across and is there a chance the self tapers will puncture it go?

Well the one in the pick is a 3/4 I'd say. A full width should bolt straight to
Your wheel arch. Hope this helps

Yes the pic is talking about a 3/4 and cupboards and says something abt different if got full r n r.
So when bolting to wheel arch do i drill straight through send a bolt through n pop a washer n nut the wheel arch side. What about sealing it does that matter ?

Should have gone for one of rustys beds the after sales advice is top notch !

Well with my beds they should attach to the seat belt mounts on the arch but if you don't have those mounts I recommend you drill and bolt through the arch using a larger washer on the other side. You could run some silicone around the washer to make sure it's water tight. Hope this helps.
