re start

my 71 starts and drives great...but after 5/6 miles it will not re start :? then after 30 mins it fires up great.what could this be.?
but if i get a jump lead and run it from the negative on the battery and hold it on the engine it fires up fine. iv had a look at the earth and its a good one :? :?

help me i look stupid when i need to turn it off

You've answered your own Q there the "earth" may look good but electrically sounds like its a load of arse....

remove the strap to the gearbox clean and wire brush mating faces and replace do the same for the battery to shell and see how it goes...
