Can anyone confirm if the rear seat belt anchor point (the one actually on the rear wheel arch)
is a regular 7/16" UNF thread ? Mine is a bit clagged up possibly with some of the old plastic insert
so I don't want to force anything just now.

7/16 UNF is a standard fo seatbelt stuff I believe.

mine fell off in my hand yesterday (due to a leaky devon roof)

not sure about the thread sorry

YEP - so did mine after I nudged it slightly with a hammer - and my roof doesn't leak (that much).

More likely to do with teh piss-poor design which traps muck and moisture between the arch and the
mounting plate - inside you could see that it rusted out an almost perfect 2 x 5" patch. !!

Now where's that welder...

.. again.

Cheers

Yup. Total cock up. Back in the old days it was not unusual for them to rust out at only 5 or six years old.

I've just done this and it was a nightmare getting the wheelarch bolts in - the captive nuts were full of 40 years of cak. In the end, a mate ground a hefty lead onto one of the longer bolts that came with my seatbelt kit and gradually worked it back and forth with loads of WD and engine oil. It takes a while and a bit of elbow grease - as well as a bit of bottle to keep going when it feels like it's cross-threading but eventually, the nuts were clean enough to accept the bolts. Hope that helps.
