Rear shock spacers

Just a quick one but should the rear shocks have a spacer at the top between the shock and the mounting hole to move the shock out?

Mine does (albeit they are define to not OG parts) but there is nothing on any diagram that I can see.

I would say no, mine don't and they are original shocks with vw part number on.

Mine have a thin washer either side of shock top and bottom.

I just replaced mine with kyb gas adjusts and fronts needed spacers as they are narrower but rears were same.
