My van seems really high on the back and doesn't seem to move if I jump around in it, the engine is out but I'm 21stone is there anything that can stick hasnt been on the road or had an engine in for a long time but is fully up on the stops of the spring plates. 1971 IRS thanks

If it has not been on the road in a long time, I guess the spring-plates could be seized in the axle tube? That is the only thing I can think of as I doubt it is the torsion bars, they should still be OK. :?

Maybe try taking off one of the end-caps on the spring plate to have a look at the bush it sits in, so that you can tell if it is all corroded. :|

Here is a picture from my project thread of the spring-plate end-cap / bush / cover:

It could be the shock absorbers if it its been standing a long time. I have never seen one with the spring plates seized but you never know. Robert

I`d be surprised if it was `` stuck`` but stranger things have happened :msn4: If you want to check that your suspension is moving, then just wack a jack under the one side and check before and after you jack it up while doing one side at a time and measure the tyre against the arch or something similar.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The engine would help to move it too
