So, getting some petrol weep on my carb, and always had the hot running issue, in spite of rejetting several times - so I am thinking new carb.

So you can buy a refurbed carb for around £170, or one from Machine 7 for £275.
Having refurbed my own, I'm not convinced that a cheaper refurb is much more than what I did. But clearly there is a huge price difference.

On everything bought so far for the van, cheaper has been poorer, but I have to ask - any view on whether the machine 7 carb is worth the extra £100? (and we don't get a discount, do we).

Thanks,
Nick

I got a refurb'ed Solex from Rage in Holland for about £160.

It was well worth it in my view and has now been on the bus for about a year.

I bought a genuine one from Machine7 I can honestly say money well spent, I should have done it years ago, its right up there with fitting a brake servo and discs 8)

I replaced the worn out, crappy Empi one a few months ago with a refurbished genuine Solex from Kevin at http://www.riverhaus.co.uk/vehicle.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for around £220 i think so quite a bit cheaper than the £275 one from Machine 7.
He does them to order so it took about 2 weeks to get it but cannot fault the service or the carb.
Defo worth a look.
Pics of the new one before i fitted it,

Ditto refurb from cog box. Money well spent. Was £180 from memory.
