Hi,
Trying to find out if I'm missing a relay...

Currently having an issue with my buzzer going off when moving the indicator stalk to turn right (might be a short somewhere).

However, whilst looking to sort this I've been wondering if my relays are OK, as they don't look to match the wiring diagram. The wiring diagram in the bentley ( US 70 model) shows 3 relays...

- Ignition key warning buzzer (Labelled as H5)
- Dimmer Relay (Labelled as J)
- Emergency flasher relay (Labelled as J2)

So do all of these attach under the fuse box?

It looks like they do from the diagram, but I've got the following...
(Note I've since replaced all the fuses and the buzzer seems to be in the larger of the grey 'blocks'/relays )

Any advice?

just a thought, and might be barking up the wrong tree, but i know from fitting ATM type machines and packaging/trasporting circuit boards etc that sellotape was mildly conductive has your brown tape got damp and increased conductivity..?? not even sure why they are wrapped any way....just a thought

To be honest I wondered aswell why the tape was there in the first place.

I'm thinking it might be to protect the relays from moisture or some kind of leak in the past? There was a tiny bit of corrosion on the terminals (you might be able to make it out).

I tempted to take all the tape off, but then I might be creating another problem, as at the moment it's only when I indicate right that the buzzer(which is the larger block of tape) kicks into life, so seems weird that the relay would be fine for turning left but not right?

But also your reply regarding sellotape being mildly conductive has got me thinking, because there are some other wires that are taped up with duct tape. This wouldn't have a similar effect?

For some reason water always seems to find its way in to the relays. I have found them totally full of water!! So I guess thats why they have been covered in the past :D :D My last van had new relays for the MOT and worked fine until tested when the failed..... they filled up with water from the windscreen washer lines that perished when under presure and flooded them!.. Wrapped fuse box and relays in polythene which sorted the problem
