Went to collect my van from Central Motors in Cheltenham. They've done an excellent job of fitting my spring plates and lowering front and rear. Anyway went to drive off and the thrust bearing failed, when I depressed the pedal it made a squealing noise then stalled. Steve is going to fix it next week. Thank God I was there and not half way home, or even driving to Volksworld next weekend. TBH it's been making a noise from shortly after I got it last may, maybe should have got it sorted sooner!

At least it was a the garage, if their decent it will be running after a couples hours.

Van back now, turns out it had the wrong clutch and release bearing. All sorted now. And slightly lower with the adjustable spring plates on ( might be a bit too low actually, not much clearance with the back box)

I had a new clutch put in my 72 Bay the other year and it’s transformed it. Can I ask you about the company, Central Motors Cheltenham, that you used.....would you recommend them and can I ask what they charge £?

Cheers

Hi, yes Central Motors seem pretty good, Steve the owner and air-cooled mechanic is into his flat-4s. I have used them a number of times for various jobs.
Not sure what their hourly rate is, but I've been happy with their prices.
