Road trip to Crotia in a 1972 Devon T2

Good afternoon everyone, we have decided to drive Bod all the way down to Crotia in September this year, we were wondering if any one else has done this and what route they recommend? We've driven Bod down to Nimes in summer 2014, and drove all the way to Naples in our lovely Alfa 156 sportwagon, so driving in Europe doesn't bother us. But, we were wondering if anyone has ever done this trip and what they recommend? Cheers.
