Seat belts lap belts and the law

I have a 67 bus which currently has horrid red 3 point inertia seat belts.
Can I replace these with lap belts being pre 68 ???

I hope the answer is yes, as I have recently had seat belts fitted to my crew cab, (manufactured Nov '67, registered Jan '68), and I have lap belts in the middle of both bench seats, and also static 3-point belts rather than inertia for the other ones.

You can, but lap belts aren't the safest and can cause injuries, there are a few youtube videos on the subject.

Well I've bought some Irvin aircraft belts
They should look much better
