We are in discussion regarding the type of covering for our rock n roll bed. The dilema is ..... how much do vinyl seats make you sweat when you sleep on them. Or would it be better to get a cloth upholstery. I was thinking that an extra layer/sheet between the seat and body should do it. There have been disagreements from other members of the marriage regarding this latest point.

Mine are vinyl and I just yse a sheet.

Cloth will 'hold' the sweat along with stains etc ...... food etc, of course ;)

I made a thin type mattress out of wadding to make it more comfortable and stays rolled up behind the seat. If we are using the duvet we can put a sheet over it or if using a sleeping bag we don't bother.

Had this conversation with the wife before i got my seat/bed recovered in vinyl. Weve always used a sheet anyway and if you get a nice tight one it dosent shift. She wanted the material and i talked her into the vinyl again due to the reasons Clem mentions. Much more practical in my opinion.

vinyl with large sleeping bag opened out to lie on and another large open sleeping bag or double duvet on top, very comfy and no sweat !!also vinyl much easier to keep clean !

we camped out in the 68 first time at bus stop over and was thinking about the vinyl seat / bed covering and the old sweating the arse off syndrome  but having been use to cloth covering in my ford e-150 dayvan and we always put a sheet or blanket down , can report no difference really , in fact the 68 westy bed was quite comfy 8) did its job and no sweating arse off syndrome what so ever

Just go and buy the lowest tog double duvet and use that as your bottom layer, super comfy and takes out any lumps or bumps (usually my mobile that i lost   )
