Done a bit of checking for you. It seems that some independant engine builder has put his own number on. Not a VW number. Being in a type 2 it is most proberly 1600cc but could have been converted to larger. Is it twin port and does it have dual oil pressure release valves and what carb is on and does it have dog house oil cooler. With out taking heads off and checking size of pistons it is going to be problem knowing what cc engine is. Getting spares will not be a problem.
