Dear Earlybayers,

I am the proud new owner of a 1971 LHD Westy :D and I am looking to fit new seat belts in the rear so that my boys can enjoy the van in safety. I've purchased 2x 3 point belts for the back, however I was going to fit one on the buddy seat behind the drivers seat but:

Q1: Am I allowed to have 2 seat belts anchored to the same bolt in the frame behind the drivers shoulder? Or do I have to drill/weld a fixing in place or even just use a lap belt there? (hope that's clear?!)

also,

Q2: Does anyone know if the Securon seat belt reel will fit in the space below the hinge of the R 'n' R bed (non cupboard side), or do I have to fit it on the frame behind (as I've seen done on here recently)?

Sorry for the many Q's!

Many thanks in anticipation!
:)

Might be wrong but I dont think you should use reverse facing seats when travelling (thinking about the buddy seat). Ive got lap belts on the rock and roll bed seat

Thanks for the responses guys.

There was a lap belt on the buddy seat but I thought I would fit a 3 point for "belts and braces" solution.

I may just to have to replace all the lap belts with new versions and convince 'her indoors' that it's safe enough!

Thanks again.

doooohhhhh, the belt locks which ever way its facing.have done this to customers long time ago and no complaints.

London cabs have seat belts for the flip down seats. not sure about doubling up on the anchor though, but i think the securon fitting instructions show a drawing of doing it.

Rear facing seats are allowed, the seat belt will lock which ever way it is fitted forward or rear.
