hardest part would be getting a feed wire inside I recon.
not sure you are allowed to have them linked to your full beam so a simple switch on the dash might be the way to go

Came across these the other day and I was just gonna leave them in my garage as ornaments. Then it dawned on me that it’s the colour scheme of all colour schemes to match my van. So the plan is to shorten the roof rack then fit them to the roof rack.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, But wiring them up ? :)

Ideally you’ll switch them through a relay.
Be interesting to see how you’ll get a 30A feed and a decent ground up to the roof rack though.
@sparkywig
Without drilling a hole all I can think of is down through the air vents, then into the engine bay…

Or,,,,,, I have a removable ceiling / roof liner over my cab area that I should be able to run a cable or two down the A pillar then earth where my pop top mechanisms are. Cables can come out under the pop top fabric right in the middle at the top of the roof apex then a little loop and up and under the roof rack beneath the slats. I can run the cables down when I fit the lights to somewhere past the fuse box then it would have to be to a pair of relays hooked up to under dash switches. I don’t think I’d ever use them for real because getting those covers off is a real PITA . I also think they look extra fab with the covers on. So it’s 30A cables required Wig ? That saved me asking the question later on .

So just to save all the trouble if you doubt you'll switch them on don't bother fitting any wiring😁😁

That is one of many of my frequently used ‘Go Tooos’ especially when it concerns wiring. Haven’t had any dash lights for nearly two years, been try to fix my horn to work on the horn push for at least three years longer than that ^^^, but I do have a switch under the dash . I’ve only just put a new headlight bulb in. In all fairness I did that the same week as I found out I was winking at peeps and not actually flashing them. One day I’ll just wake up and be absolutely mint at electrics and fix absolutely every damned thing :)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, Maybe one day :)

No need to rush these things mate!!

Absolutely spot on bud. Everyone has stuff they’re fine with and stuff that for whatever reason eludes some of us. I know I’m not on my own with this electrics phobia and there’s one or two others on here that could hold their own along with me in the electrical incompetent’s Olympics. Gaz is gold medal quality int you Gaz.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, Wagu to the rescue I’m thinking :)

Ooh that's different. I've not seen them before. Quite effective and that chain is cool too.

Who me?, of all the bare arsed cheek !. 💥🔥🙈💡

Ok, about time too I’m thinking. I’ve taken that old cool box of mine out and anybody needs a coolbox, come and get it and donate twenty to an animal or cancer charity. It’s good for sixty ish Stellas. So the coolbox is gone, we have an unusual compressor Dometic fridge to go in but I’m not wanting it to look like any body else’s interior. I’ve had several fine fine ideas from toolboxes to standard T2 kitchenettes and nuffink is really floating my boat but I’ve got an idea to go in a different direction completely. So idea’s welcome. Mostly it’s just me in the bus, however at shows and events etc, there can be as many as ‘loads’ sat in mine.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,like an itch I can’t scratch :)

No bud, tactical change of plan and I’m going all sensible with a fridge and conventional units.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,sort of
So here’s my tactical change of plans. I accidentally came across this brand new fridge over on the LateBay and it’s a super duper type that you can take the motor and running gear off and pop it elsewhere in another cupboard for instance thus allowing you to reduce the amount the fridge sticks out if you’re tight on space. So I’ve bought it and started fiddling around with various ideas and lay outs but couldn’t get it to fit how I’d thought. So I’ve allowed the ‘Motor’ and running gear bit to sit in between the front seats and worked around that. Only downside so far is not being able to open the fridge 180’ without having the fridge poking out or spreading everything apart a couple of inches. So here’s some pics of what I’ve been up too.
IMG_4693.jpegIMG_4703.jpegSo that’s the start of it and trying not to bolt through the trim panels etc.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,still working on it.

Then I’ve got the fridge mocked up but not got any wiring to it yet. Nick has got me a nice little fuse box and a split charge relay and a little charging point with a *** lighter style plug, a couple of USB outlets and a charge indicator that tells you if everything is charging (or not) . So I’m getting ready to install the battery and finding a space for the fuse box. But still undecided on where to pop the diesel heater, under the passenger seat for heating the front AKA Mrs Ozziedog or heating the back which might be me ! Struggling to get to grips with securing this fridge. There’s no ‘Bolt It Here’ type information and the hinges etc are all self tappered into the outer skin including the pilot holes for reversing the door. Or am I trying to over engineer fitting and securing a fridge ?

IMG_4691.jpegThe idea is to vinyl wrap the fridge door so it’s black too that’ll match the other ‘units’. The top weighs an absolute tonne <<< metric ,see ! I’ll weigh it in the morning and see how much I can reduce it by scavenging and scalloping out the underside, but that too weighs more than the fridge and my new units.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,Matches the floor too ! :)

So I’ve trimmed the top almost to size, not sure if I want to reduce how much it punches into the space between the seats. The latest idea, is to form another shelf above the fridge with a 50/50 opening from the cab and from the van interior. Might even hide away my C.B. Inside it and have a small door from the cab to keep stuff hidden.

IMG_4705.jpegNot too convinced that a major concussion isn’t in line where that front corner is in head height range if someone happened to be opening the fridge door from outside of the van whilst partaking in Stella disposal. Should imagine it’d be fine for the first five bottles, risky for the next five bottles, then odds on for the next five bottles. Maybe fit a tennis ball to the corner ? Or maybe 45’ it.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, Now who might have toooo many Stellas ? :) :ROFLMAO:

View from the Rock N Roller,

IMG_4711.jpegSo, a small shelf directly above the fridge, probably use some of the same top but scavenged out and scalloped to reduce it.. Then there’s a gap to the left and to the right. So on the right, behind the driver’s seat, I have enough space width ways to fit my one gallon of drinking water container nicely between the side panel and the unit plus enough space to hide away behind it, my recycling bottle, nicely out of sight which I can then pop another shelf over to make the bottles a snug fit and give me a little hideaway cupboard for whatever. I have exactly the same space to the left hand side plus it’s accessible from outside with the slider open. I could do shelves, or a hinged spicy rack but that’s been done to death already by Herr Westy and his cohorts. Slim still conjuring up and looking for ideas here. The sensible answer would be some sort of bin / recycling arrangement for bottle tops and bottles but I’m not terribly au fait with the sensibilities thing. A pop out shelf would be just making one to show I could make one, but I’d like an idea , possibly not earth shattering but an idea that could use this space. Bit narrow for a dunny, even with my slimline sylph like body.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,anyway, all ideas and brainstorming welcome. :)
