I am a friend of the chap who runs this company -

http://www.icshipping.com/index.htm

Who recently quoted me as follows -

A budget price to import a VW Camper Van from California is £2500.00

This is based on: -

Your supplier delivering into Gardena Container Freight Station, Los Angeles., with the original title of the vehicle for validation before loading

Loading into a 20' shipping container

Shipping by sea freight to Thamesport, UK.

UK Customs clearance

Delivery of container to Bescot, Walsall depot

Unloading of camper from the container at Bescot depot, for you to then collect.

Note the VW camper attracts 10% UK customs duty and 17.5% vat, which additional to the £2500.00 shipping cost.

Not sure if this helps or how the price compares?

that was a quote from kingston shippers UK office, as an example

im expecting to get shipping for closer to $1500 judging by what the guy im buying the new toy from is saying. Just waiting on a quote

im looking here http://www.autocarshippers.com/ just waiting on a price from them

in regards to traders, they also buy their stock a lot cheaper too, they have guys out there finding them cheap buses to then sell over here for a very increased margin ( i guess ) and when ur sending over 100 buses a year, i guess the shippers are more flexible with prices

£1250 sounds about right to me (excluding tax, insurance and duty). I've heard nothing but good things about Kingstown.

are you looking for a rusty old ratter? import is usually from dry climate to wetter :)

I think 'lowbus' would be your best bet for advice on getting busses to/from Oz to the UK, hes possibly done it before?

right shipping gonna work out at $1200 for a shared container, with the bus delivered to the port by the seller for me

then £350-380 charge by the UK agents ( kingstown shipping )

works out 3-400 pounds cheaper using a US shipper
