Just had my hubs off to change the front bearings and noticed one spindle has a circular piece of metal at the base of the hub shaft like below whereas the other one doesn't. Is this normal?
from the pic, i think your looking at your Camber nut, all normal,

Is that what it is!? I've just replaced the bearings and races on the hubs, the spindles came like that and as you can see the bearing race (if that's what it is) has been sprayed along with the spindles so I thought it was part of it!
thanks yeah that looks about right, I've contacted governor engineering (A.K.A. transporterhaus) to see if they'll send it. I emailed them a few times some weeks ago to ask about sending me back my camber nuts but had no response.
I'm just about to fit mine and have noticed exactly the same. One side has the metal ring the other doesn't??????? But mine are for drum brakes?????? I got mine 2nd hand so anything could have happened. Why would I have one on a drum spindle then???? Do i need none or one on both???????
hopefully someone will let you know if you need them or not, if I find anywhere that sells them I'll let you know. When removing my hubs to replace the bearings the bearing on the spindle that didn't have the spacer moved too far up the hub shaft and was a pig to get off.
Agreed. So I stripped the spacer off my stock hub, a simple job of gently easing off each side at a time (there's screwdriver slots on each side) and used it on my dropped spindle.

With a gentle persuasion
A close up of the back of the spacer for information.
I had to exchange my old spindles so don't have any spare I've ebay messaged, emailed and rang governor engineering and still no response. Does anywhere sell these, I really need one to get my hubs back on, I have a mates wedding on Easter Monday and he wants me to drive him there in the bus!
Thanks, I've set up a dispute on eBay so I'll see what comes out of that. I paid TH/governor engineering £650 for the spindles and adjustable springplates. I expected them to atleast arrive as described.
