should my battery tray have drain holes?

Had the battery out at weekend for a clean and sort out poor terminal connections, and noticed the tray on the RHS has no holes, whereas the tray on the left has got drain holes. Which is correct?

and where does the rain water go that comes in the air inlets by the windows at each side?

don't know for sure but it makes sense that there would be drain holes :?

Originally there were drain holes. There was a sort of rubber grommet with a drain tube in the hole too.

Yes both trays should have a drain hole, please see picture showing underside. (ignore tube this is air intake for petrol heater)
