Bought this at a junk sale recently for £very little and can't decide what I have. The wheels and timber deck are telling me 70s but the trucks and recent looking screws are telling me modern "retro" rip off.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Andy

not sure on this, look like old slalom wheels and trucks look real narrow. whats the dimensions of the board etc, or as above any names at all (even on the bearings) screw look like new general purpose 'gold' screws

Trucks held on with self-tappers...

Looks like a poorly assembled bitsa...

Thanks for all the replies guys, there are no markings on the trucks, wheels or deck (just "C H" on the truck bolt heads). Its 680mm long and 165mm at its widest. The deck is solid timber 19mm thick and has been sawn a third ot the way through and glued to create the kicktail.

My 2 year old son has taken to it in a big way and "skateboard" has become on of his first 20 words so I guess I'll give it a clean up, re do the bearings and it'll be his!

I got my first (and only) board in 76ish and it was a cheapy yellow plastic "banana" type board with red semi transparent wheels (bought an identical one off Gadget Boy a few years back - still awaiting resto!) - I loved it but always was more of a bike boy - Tomahawk, Commando and despite always hoping to move on to a Grifter, I got a Huffy Pro 4 BMX in 81 then moved on to a PK Ripper in 83.

Hey thats a great board for your child to start on. I still have a skateboard my dad bought me in the mid to late 70"s. It has a Fibreglass deck with a hawaian print on it and california slalom trucks...all original never messed with. I wonder what its worth ?
It holds alot of memories i guess you cant value that and im sure your child will say the same some day about the skateboard you have given him. :D

California slaloms - they were the dogs back in the day 8) my mates had them, me i had ACS 651's with 70mm kryptonics - god - funny the stuff you remember, oh and NSK bearings i think 8)

Nice deck mate, did anyone on here see the news about closing down south bank & did anyone skate there and crystal palace in the 70s?

Simo, funny thing, been meaning to buy another board, Kryp's and all.... can't remember the colour code though, was it the reds that were fast and the green more for bowls ? many thanks for the acs truck reminder for the life of me I could not drag that name up... you could be about my age so a question for you, flexi-deck does that ring a bell ? would like one of those also but not sure if that is the correct name... Ah the mists of time

I had the Gold 8) ACS 651's with Riser Pads - great trucks but hankered after Gullwings. I had Pro-am 3 wheels (but envied my friends OJ's). Shop made deck (all I could afford). Friends has Benjy Boards or White Lightning and one guy had Gecko which later became Pacer. Long hot sunny days of 1977 wearing canadian rigger gloves and an ice hockey helmet (that hurt my head but I though I was really cool    )
